OBITUARY
general GOMBOES (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copy right) MUNICH, 6th October. The death has occurred from uraemia of General Gomboes, Prime Minister of Hungary, after a long illness. General Julius Gomboes was born in 1886 and was educated at the military school at Pecs and at Vienna. He took part in the Serbian and Russian campaigns of 1914-16, and was military attache at Zagreb in 1918. He was president of the Hungarian National Defence Association in 1919. and during the Communist dictatorship organised a counter-revolution from Vienna. Following this he played a leading part in frustrating the attempts of Charles IV. to return to the throne. From 1923 to 1928 he led the Race Defence Party and then joined the Unionist Party, becoming successively State Secretary of National Defence, Minister of National Defence and. in 1932, Prime Minister.
