TRACK WORK AT FLEMINGTON (United Press Association—-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) MELBOURNE, 6th October. At Flemington, Fine Feathers, ridden by W. Sterling, defeated The Pioneer, the lightweight doing the best mile of the season on the tan in 1.45 1-12. Gilt did the rnile in 1.47. Bustard looks well. Favourite Son (A. Stephens) went well. Gay Lover did pace work and looks well after the Sydney trip. Arachne has recovered and did five furlongs in 1.7 1-12. Journal and Royal Melody have aril ved. Tbyone ran three furlongs in 40 seconds, and Siren did a steady task. Dick Devon ran a strong mile. Capris has been rehandicapped 91b in the Toorak Handicap, and is now on 8.6. Capris has 71b extra in the Caulfield Cup and is now 3.4. Allendale has gone to Adelaide to run in the Derby. Gay Blonde is a likely runner in the Caulfield Cup. Conditions were ideal for galloping at Caulfield. Dark Sky and Beechwood finished together in a record seven furlongs in 1.27 j. the first half mile being covered in 47Jsecs, the first six in 1.14.
Charles Fox did a stylish six in 1.15 and Boongary the best mile in 1.46. Riddle defeated Othello in a splendid four in 49secs, the first two taking 24 sees. Prince Quex concluded his work over four furlongs in 53Asecs. Scul-
pin ran six in 1.16 and looks well. Auries Star covered five in 1.23, and Toltec seven in 1.32. Oratory strode, Cuddle cantered, and Chief Ranger defeated Great Hope over six in 1.21. The former looks improved. Mitsui and Link Divine did four in 50jjsecs. Keep home fresh! New colours for Gd, with FAIRY DYES. 31 shades. Chemists and Stores.
