STOKE CLUB SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TO E. VERCOE The weather for the closing day of the Stoke Club’s season was most favourable and a large crowd attended. The final of the Men’s Senior Championship took place over 36 holes between Dee and Vercoe, Vercoe winning comfortably. He was playing excellent golf, his card for the morning’s eighteen holes being 75. After afternoon tea, the president, Mr O. Barton extended a welcome to the visitors and congratulations to the winners. He then presented the following trophies:—Ladies’ Championship, Miss Stephens. Captain’s Trophy, Miss Kidd. L.G.U. Medal, Mrs Dee. Mrs Robinson’s Trophy, One Club Competition, Mrs Chisnall. Mr Croucher’s, Season’s Eclectric, Mrs Dee. Miss Kidd’s, Long Handicap’s, Mrs Gardner. Men’s Senior Championship, Mr E. Vercoe. Junior Championship, Mr O. Barton, Cull Cup, Mr E. R. Black. Captain’s Trophy, Mr H. Chisnall. Mr Croucher’s Trophy, Season's Eclectric, Mr H. Thomason.

The patron, Mr A. Douglas, in his usual cheery manner presented the Junior Cup to the president and extended the club’s congratulations. Mrs H. Chisnall was the recipient of a mounted ball, the one she holed out. in one with in July last. A long driving competition was later held the winner being E. Vercoe—247 yards. The runner-up was R. Ryder, of Nelson. A friendly game with the men of the Redwood's Valley Club has been arranged for Saturday next, play to commence at 1.30 sharp.
