MATTER NOW CLOSED
PALMERSTON NORTH ' COUNCILLORS INCIDENT AT MEETING (By Telegraph—Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, This Day. A statement was made by Councillor W. B. Tennent that it was not his intention to proceed further with any contemplated proceedings, which he announced at a recent meeting of the City Council he was issuing against Councilor J. Hodgens, M.P., in consequence of a reference to Councillor Tennent contained in a telegram which Councillor Hodgens forwarded to the Council three weeks ago. Councillor Tennent to-day said that though he considered that the proper place for Councillor Hodgens to make a withdrawal of his statement was at the council table, he understood from the people who attended the public meeting in the Opera House on 19th September that Councillor Hodgens there made the necessary withdrawal. Mr Tennent now regards the matter as closed.
