ARMS POLICY DILEMMA

COMING LABOUR CONFERENCE RESOLUTION BEING DRAFTED (United Press Association—By Eleetrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON,. 3rd October. The Labour Executive, to overcome the arms policy dilemma, is drafting a resolution for the impending Edinburgh Conference, declaring that the armed strength of countries loyal to the League must be governed by the armed strength of the potential aggressor; therefore it reaffirms the policy of maintaining forces consistent with Britain’s responsibilities as a member of the League, but declines responsibility for a competitive armaments policy. (Received sth October, 11.45 a.m.) RUGBY, 4th October. The resolution on defence armaments tabled by the National Executive Labour Party for discussion at the conference at Edinburgh adds that the conference declares that the continuance of vested interests in the private manufacture of arms would be a grave contributory danger to the peace of the world.
