GOLD AND SILVER
EMBARGO ON EXPORT GOVERNMENT CONTROL OF BANKS (Received sth October, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, 4th October. The President of Spain, Senor Azana, has issued a decree placing an embargo on the export of gold and silver and imposing Government control on all banks, also requiring citizens to surrender within a week all gold, foreign bonds, and currency in their possession.
