FIRE IN DRAPERY STORE

INVERCARGILL OUTBREAK (United Press Association' INVERCARGILL, 4th October. Fire broke out in the ceiling ’of Thomson and Beattie’s drapery establishment at 5 o’clock this evening and gave the brigade considerable trouble before it was extinguished. The ceiling toward the front of the shop was blazing when the brigade arrived, and difficulty was experienced in getting, to the seat of the first before the outbreak was under control. About £2OOO worth of damage was done to the stock, mainly by smoke and water.
