THE WEATHER

FINE AND MILDER Fine and milder weather is predicted, but with cloud increasing and later rain probable in the western ranges. Nelson enjoyed a fine, sunny weekend. Saturday was the hottest day Nelson has had this spring. Although cloudy for the most part and threatening in the morning, the sun shone forth in the afternoon and a maximum temperature in the shade of 68.9 degrees, combined with humid atmosphere, made real summer conditions. The sunshine on Saturday amounted to 3 hours 55 minutes. Sunday was brilliantly sunny, but a south-westerly which sprang up during the morning increased in force in the afternoon, and helped to keep the temperature high during the day though the wind was cold after sunset. The sunshine total for the day was 10 hours 55 minutes. The barometer to-day had risen to 30.19 from 29.99 yesterday, and the day was gloriously fine, with a light haze over the sky. The early morning temperature was cool, the thermometer falling almost to frost level. A sea breeze arose towards noon. The Government Research Orchard experienced a frost of over two degrees this morning. Sunny weather was the rule in the Dominion this morning, ).vith light variable winds, pretssure being high.
