THE “NEW” POLITICS
| (To The Editor) j Sir, —Because the League believes, in common with many other far more notable people, that some reform of the monetary system is necessary, “Ikona Mali” considers it rele(vant to ask who its members are, and ' also charges its members with “sins l of omission” because they don’t put I forward a reform. This is of course absurd. In his opening address the President at tlje Congress of the Federation of chambers of Commerce referred to this need. Are these men to be accused by "Ikona Mali” if they fail to produce a solution? He, no doubt, will agree with us that some cure for cancer is necessary—does that justify a charge against us of sins of omission because we have expressed that opinion before we can suggest a solution? This form of argument is very typical of your correspondent. His repetition of the accusation that we substituted names unfairly or ignorantly does not make the untruth any less an untruth. He asks your readers to compare the letters to prove his charge, by all means let them do so. There was no- substitution. He finds some significance in the fact that we did not accept his “challenge” to name the copy of the “New Era,” and interprets this, as an admission, on our part, that we were bluffing. Really, sir, this is too childish to take seriously! However, if such a “challenge” was made it may interest him to know that we took our facts from the issue of 12th June. —We are etc. N.Z. WELFARE LEAGUE. Wellingtoi, 3rd October.
