POLICE-PREPARE FOR CORONATION

WATCH ON CONFIDENCE TRICKSTERS EMPIRE TO CO-OPERATE (By Air Mail—From A Special Correspondent; LONDON, sth September. Names and descriptions of 1000 undesirables are already on Scotland Yard’s black list for the Coronation celebrations next May, arid fresh names are being added every day. Lists are being prepared by police in every Empire country, and the U.S.A. and Continental ■ authorities will also co-operate. Confidence men, pickpockets, thieves and criminals of all sorts will either be stopped at their home port or, when they arrive over here, will be met by a Special Branch “reception committee.” The additional work thrown on the Special Branch is already enormous. The police chiefs have just issued a general invitation for police officers of. special ability, such as linguists, to apply for Special Branch duties during the Coronation. This will give hundreds of young constables their chance, as they will be mingling with the “big noises” of

the Yard. And apart from the honour, they will receive special plain clothes duty allowances, expenses, and, if posted to airports or docks, out of-town allowances. The Police Commissioner, Sir Phil-

lip Game,'is determined that there shall be no incidents to mar the first great ceremony in the reign of Edward VIII and a special committee of. police chiefs now meets practically every day.
