LONDON RADIO EXHIBITION

INTEREST IN TELEVISION DEMONSTRATIONS LONDON, 26th August. The annual radio exhibition at Olympia, organised by the Radio Manufacturers’ Association, opened in London to-day, with a large attendance of visitors more than fulfilled the expectations of exhibitors. Great interest centred around the stands on which the new high-definition television receivers were displayed to the public for the first time. Demonstrations are to be given twice daily during the course of the Exhibition, when programmes will be picked up from the new 8.8-C. television station at the Alexandra Palace. The programmes consist of excerpts from talking films, actual studio productions, and "shots” of open-air scenes surrounding Alexandra Palace. Much interest was show in a new battery receiver which operates without an H.T. battery, and obtains its power from a low-tension accumulator.
