THE “FLYING FLEA”
PRONOUNCED AS DANGEROUS AIR MINISTRY’S TESTS (United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) PARIS, Ist October. The Air Ministry’s report on the “Flying Flea,” based on full scale tests in a large wind tunnel, says that even with a fairly powerful engine, it has a performance only just satisfying the requirements of a Certificate of Navigability. It adds that a 100 per cent, Mignet machine has its centre pressure always over 45 per cent, sternwards, and is dangerous because it is unrightabie when longitudinal instability causes it to dive. The “Flying Flea” also suffers lateral instability and poor handling qualities.
