TOBACCO INDUSTRY BOARD

QUESTION BY MR HOLYOAKE Mr K. J. Holyoake, National, Motueka, is to ask the Hon. the Minister of Industries and Commerce whether, in view of his public statement concerning the deliberations of the Tobacco Industry Board, and the fact that it had formulated a long range plan for the development of the industry, he will arrange that the details of the plan be placed before the tobacco growers at an early date.., Mr Holyoake added: “Up to date the deliberations. of the board have been taken in committee, and I understand that the members are required to regard the discussions and decisions u! the board as confidential. The growers are naturally becoming very restive with what they consider to be unnecessary secrecy and some publicity would be to the advantage of all concerned.”
