MALE VOICE CHOIR CONCERT

ASSISTED BY LOCAL ARTISTS Rarely is presented such a variety of vocal and instrumental music to a local audience as that' which will be rendered at the concert in the School of Music on Monday night next by the Nelson Male Voice Choir. The major portion of the programme is in the hands of the choir, consisting of works of a wide range. An arrangement of “Liebestraum” (Liszt) for four parts will be one of the outstanding numbers. “The Nun of Nidaros,” and “Goin’ Home” are also two compositions very popular as evidenced by requests for repetition. In contrast, on the lighter side is “Pussy’s in the Well” from the familiar rhyme of younger days, and “Jeremy' Jones” a satire on the “domesticated” husband. Songs of the sea, of the huntsmen, etc., also have a place on the list. Miss Frances Bensemann has come into prominence lately for her pianoforte renderings; at the concert she will play “Danse Espagnal.” Vocal soloists will be Miss B. Aydon and Master Bruce Maxwell; a duet by Mrs S. Morris and Miss M. Macfarlane; and a part song by the “Waiata” ladies’ choir, complete a full programme. The plan is filling and patrons are advised to book seats at Chas. Begg and Co.’s.
