MEETING OF SCIENTISTS
BRITISH COMMONWEALTH CONFERENCE (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 21st September. The British Commonwealth Scientific Conference,' attended by -representatives of the Governments of the United Kingdom, of all the Dominions, of India and of the colonies was opened in London to-day by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Walter Elliot, who referred to the valuable co-operative work in agricultural science effected through the executive council of the imnerial Agricultural Bureaux, a body consisting of representatives of -ii I Empire Governments and interimperially financed.
A review of the work of this council forms one of the main objects of the present conference. The conference will also make a tour of inspection of bureaux and centres of information which deal with mycology, soil science, animal health, animal nutrition and genetics, plant genetics, fruit production and agricultural parasitology. Sir Charles Howell Thomas, chairman of the executive council of *he Imperial Agricultural Bureaux, was elected chairman of the conference.
