Mr H. de O. Chamberlain, Instructor in Agriculture, Blenheim, who has been appointed Instructor in Agriculture at Nelson, will take up his residence in Nelson at an early date. He will vifeit Nelson next week to attend to several matters, and his transfer to Nelson should be finalised by the end of this month. Mr McGillivray, Fields Superintendent, will visit Nelson at an early date, and will visit various parts of the district with the new instructor.
Mr G. Cate, formerly of the Mayfair Theatre, Napier, arrived in Nelson yesterday to take up his new position as manager of the Regent Theatre.
Guests registered at the Royal Hotel include: Messrs T. J. Burley and F. J. Searlett (Westport), Messrs Ivan Schmidtt, N- B. Little (Christchurch), Mr David Symonds (Sydney), Mr and Mrs J. R. Frame (Wellington), Mr and Mrs J. Cornish (Greymouth), Mrs W. Coombe and Mr L. G. Mercer.
The death occurred at Invercargill to-day of Mr James Main, for many years headmaster in the Park and South Schools, Invercargill, aged 73 years, reports a Press Association message. The late Mr Main was born at Ballarat and arrived at Invercargill in 1880. He was a prominent bowler, with an Australian and New Zealand reputation. He is survived by a widow and daughter, Mrs Walter J. Jones. His son, Mr Stanley Main, was killed in action on the Somme.
