IMPORTANT LEGISLATION
STILL TO BE CONSIDERED END OF SESSION NOT IN SIGHT (From "The Mail’s” Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, This Day. Cabinet during the week-end has been carefully over-hauling legislative proposals with the object of framing the final programme of this session. Hopes that Parliament could adjourn by the first week in October disappeared when Ministers realised how much important legislation remained for consideration. The general view in Ministerial circles is it would be difficult to complete the programme before the end of October unless several measures which have already been announced are postponed until next year. Suggestions have been made that a short session about February would be needed prior to the Coronation, but the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage stated to-day that it seemed far prefarable to stay a week or two longer this year and avoid a short session with further interruption next year. This would enable the ordinary session to open about 7th July next year.
