It is estimated Spalding (Lincolnshire) bulb aFea exceeds 3000 acres. Besides producing so T many beautiful flowers, the district now boasts of producing many millipns of bulbs for the; forcer, r the (seedsman, and for- garden. planting/ Over. 9000 tons .'of flowers are despatched from Spalding and district, stations annually. A single, day’s loading sometimes amounts to about 200 tons, which represents many millions of flowers. Over 2000 workers, male and female, are employed, and generally it is a permanent employment.
