ESCAPE OF FRENCH CONVICTS.
A WARDER STRANGLED THREE ARRESTED IN SWITZERLAND (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) ANNECY (France), 12th. September. Five convicts strangled a warder and escaped from prison into Switzerland, where three were arrested without resistance at Feterne. The ring leader unscrewed the lock of his cell door, knocked-out a warder, took his keys and released three fellowconvicts, wlio like himself were serving life sentences for the attempted murder of a woman tobacconist. The warder recovei'ed and tried to raise the alarm, but the convicts choked him with a leather strap. They went to the common cell, released one of the ten prisoners, scaled the walls and escaped by a motor car and motor cycle across the Swiss frontier. The police stopped and arrested three and are still searching for the missing pair.
