TWO PEOPLE ADMITTED TO HOSPITAL ACCIDENT ON STOKE ROAD Shortly after two o’clock yesterday afternoon a head-on collision occurred oh the Stoke road about half a mile on the Nelson side of Stoke, between two cars’, one being driven to town by Mr C. Haggitt, with two passengers, and asecond.,car, ..driven in the opposite direction by Mr H. W. Lummis ./with ifour passenger^;/ 7 The latter vehicle," it is understood, was following behind a third car, and apparently swerved out to pass it, meeting the oncoming vehicle. As a result of the collision Mr Haggitt suffered several fractured ribs, scalp wounds and. injuries to the right knee. His condition was reported by the hospital to-day to be satisfactory. A passenger in the other vehicle, Mr L. Powrie, was also admitted to hospital with facial injuries.
