SANDHILLS OPERATIONS The Sandhills Gold Mining Company, Ltd., advise that all work at the claim ceased at noon on Monday for the winter months. Operations will he continued towards the end of August.

Unemployment Board’s prospecting scheme in the Inangaliua district for the month of May was 28oy, 18dwt 3gr. valued approximately at .£202 6s. The 'number of men on the scheme was 62, of whom 18 were engaged in reef prospecting.

MAHAKIPAWA COMPANY PROPOSAL~TOMJQUIDATE A resolution that Mahakipawa Goldfields, Ltd., should be wound up voluntarily, will be placed before shareholders at un extraordinary meeting, to he held on 2dlh June. In a circular to shareholders, the directors state that great difficulty had been experienced by the tribute party of working miners in sinking a shaft near the south end of the claim. Gold was not found from the surface to the bottom of the shaft in sufficient quantities tp pay for driving out, and on reaching the bottom the tribute party ran into old workings which were in such a bad stale of repair that further exploration work could riot safely be carried out. Wet weather made it impossible for the party to work below tlie surface for some weeks, and no further progress lias beeri made. Up to the present nothing tangible lias come from the directors’ efforts to interest various mining groups in the company’s claim, and in the circumstances, and in view of the financial position of the company, they have decided to recommend to shareholders that the company go into liquidation.
