INDIANS V. SURREY SANDHAM MAKES 85 (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph —Copyright) LONDON, 20th June. In a match with Surrey, the Indians in the first innings made 226 (Jai not out 59, Gover four for 54). Surrey in the first innings made three for 154 (Sandham not out 85). AMARNATH SENT HOME TROUBLE IN MINOR COUNTIES MATCH LONDON, 20th June. Amarnath, the Indian cricketer, was sent back home this morning as a disciplinary measure. He says the trouble arose in the Minor Counties match. “I have previously been batting fourth or fifth,” he said, “but on that occasion I was told to put on my pads and kept waiting for four hours. I went in seventh and when I came out I threw my bat and pads in a corner. I said nothing against the captain, Maharaj Kumar Vizianagram. Whatever I said to the other players I did not intend for the captain. “My team fellows pleaded with the manager, Captain Jones, to give me another chance, to which Maharaj Kumar was agreeable, but apparently I was blamed for letters to India complaining of the method of running the team, although I had not written them. I was most distressed and wept throughout the night. I feel better now I have got the explanation off my chest.”

ENGLISH TEST TEAM FOR MATCH WITH INDIA (Received 22nd June, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. 21st June. The English team against India in the First Test on 27th June will be selected from Allen, Wyatt, Robins, Turnbull, Leyland, Verity, Mitchell. Duckworth, Gover, Gimblett, James Langridge, and Hardstaff. The selection of the last named, who pulled a leg muscle when fielding in the Test trial, subject to his fitness.

LARWOOD’S NON-INCLUSION “BOWLING SPLENDIDLY LATELY” (Received 22nd June, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, 21st June. “The Times” cricketing writer discussing the Test team against India says possibly many had hoped that Larwood would have been included. He has been bowling splendidly lately, and is unquestionably the best fast and medium bowler at present playing. Cricket is much too good a game to allow the selection of a test team to be a grim concern, but if ever there was a tragedy it is the history of Larwood's career. The “News Chronicle” says that Larwood is still the best fast bowler available and should like the selectors to take a bold course and choose him for Australia and let the past be forgotten.

MARYLEBONE V. OXFORD i, UNIVERSITY CENTURY TO EDRICH LONDON. 20th June. In a match with Oxford University Marylebone in the first innings made 333 (Hendren 98, Edrich 114). Oxford University in the first innings made four for 87.
