AUSTRALIAN OLYMPIC TEAM
ARRANGEMENT FOR WELCOME AT BERLIN (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) BERLIN, 19th June. When t!ie Australian Olympic team arrive they will find their fourth row of huts in the Nauheiduisberg section of the village most attractive with lawns and flowerbeds. They'will be met at the station and welcomed in a waiting-room and given refreshtftents, after which the Lord Maypr ..will officially receive them at the 'Berlin To\yn Hull in the presence of the Reich’s' sports leader, l3nron von Tschammcr Undosten, who will welcome them on behalf, of the Olympic organisation.
ARRIVAL AT MARSEILLES CITY DISORGANISED OWING TO STRIKE (Received 20th June, 9.45 a.m.) LONDON, 19th June. The Associated'Press special correspondent from Marseilles says that instead of finding themselves in normally one of the liveliest cities in Europe, the Australian and New Zealand Olympic representatives to-night encountered a Marseilles which the inhabitants called haif-dead, owing to the strike, which persists at almost, full force here, though it has been settled elsewhere. There are no taxis and leading hotels, stores and restaurants are closed. The streets are filled with quiet strikers, amusing themselves playing bowls in any open space. The Mongolia was slightly late, but efforts are being made to arrange for transport to enable the team to maintain its schedule by taking the night train for Paris. FRANCE NOT TO PARTICIPATE OFFICIALLY (Received 20th Jyin.e, 9.50 a.m.) PARIS, 19th June. The Government -decided not to participate officially in the Olympic Games, but to financially facilitate the French Federation’s participation.
