UNITED STATES AND BRITAIN

(To The Editor) Sir, —I fully endorse your correspondent “Plain Facts” when he says “It is up to New Zealand and Australia to wake up and get immigrants from Home, and thus develop our empty lands and inciease our security.” Btit I think his violent attack upon the United States ill-judg-ed. The future of the Pacific rests between the English-speaking nations, on the one hand, and the Mongolian nations, led by Japan, on the other. Is it not evident that if the former quarrel among themselves, the latter will be triumphant? Friendship between Britain and America is the foundation of peace and security in the lands of the Pacific, and any endeavour to prevent that friendship would ho inimical to the cause of civilisation.—l am, etc., NEW ZEALANDER. Nelson, 17th June.
