RIFLE SHOOTING
WOODSTOCK V. KORERE AN EXCITING FINISH MATCH FOR SHIELD A match of interest to country Rifle Clubs was fired at Korere on Saturday last between teams representing Korere (holders of the Combined Shield) and Woodstock (challengers). In a close and exciting finish, Woodstock were successful by one point, the result being in doubt until the second to last shot. Seme good individual performances were recorded for Korere by F. Palmer 34 at 2Coyds and 34 at 500yds, and by D. Arnold 34 at 300yds. For Woodstock the highest scorers were I. Win with. 33 at 400yds, F. Bennetts 33 at 500yds, and the veteran J. F. Balck 33 at 500yds. At the conclusion of the match President V/. Col :man handed over the shield to President J. Balck, remarking on the closeness of the match and warning Woodstock that his team would be a challenger next year. President Balck expressed his pleasure at having won (he shield, and thanked the Korere team for their hospitality and the arrangements made for the match. Following are the scores:—
