SEVERAL CENTURIES SCORED RAIN CURTAILS PLAY (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Cony right) (Received 17th June, 9.25 a.m.) LONDON, 16th June. Rain curtailed play in county cricket. Results were:— Surrey v. Essex: — Surrey, first inning, 52; second innings, 200 (Nichols took six ’lickets for 70 runs). Essex, first innings, 185; second innings, one for 68. Essex won by nine wickets. Derby v. Yorkshire: — Derby, first innings, 253 (Townsend 101, Bowes took five for 66); Yorkshire, first innings, 112 (Mitchell six for 60), followed on one for 102. Derby won on the first innings.
Middlesex v. Lancashire: — Middlesex, first innings, 114; Lancashire, first innings, six for 110. The match was drawn, Sussex v. Warwick: —
Sussex, first innings, 233 (Cook 95, Santall five for 59); second innings, 109 (Mayer seven for 51). Warwick, first innings, 104; second innings, five for 239 (Santall not out 104). Warwick won by five wickets. Somerset v. Kent:— Somerset, first innings, 169 (Freeman six for 60); second innings, 123 (Todd four for 26). Kent, first innings, eight for 248 declared (Ashdown 132); second innings, four for 47. Kent won by six wickets. '' Worcester v. Hampshire:— Worcester, first innings, 206 (Greese six for 44). Hampshire, first innings, four for 207. Hampshire won on the first innings. Gloucester v. Glamorgan:— Gloucester, first innings, 313 (Neale not out 97); second innings, one for 69 declared./ Glamorgan, first innings, 182 (Sinfield five for 68, Goddard'hvS for 61); second innings, 103 (Sinfield seven for 58). Gloucester won by 97 runs. Leicester v. Oxford: — Leicester, first innings, 325 (Prentice 90, Berry 106); second innings, three for 49. Oxford, first innings, 365 (Murray Wood 104, Whitehouse not out 91). The match was drawn. Cambridge v. Free Foresters:— Cambridge, first filings, 228 (Bartlett 129, Brown seven for 88); second innings, three for 132. Free Foresters, first innings, 335 (Brown 81). The match was drawn.
