BURGLAR DISTURBED

FOUND BY NIGHTWATCHMAN . A HURRIED DEPARTURE (By Telegraph—Preßß Association) WAIPUKURAU, This Day. A daring burglary exploit took place about 2.30 this morning when a man, thought by the night watchman, E. G. Price, to be between 30 and 35 years of age, was found by him on the premises of H. B. Poppellwell and Co., in Main street, packing up men’s clothing into boxes. The burglar escaped and apparently reached a waiting car. He left an overcoat, a chisel, and a tyre lever behind in his hurried exit. The criminal or a confederate evidently stole 12 gallons of petrol from F. Wells’s garage after smashing the lock. Entry was attempted at two other shops.
