The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 13th June, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow.—-Spot market remains depressed. Nominal quotations arc lower. Moderate business has been done in shipments. Hemp.—Manila : Market quiet, with firmer undertone. "K” goods quoted buyers August-October shipment . at £2O 10s. Stocks in London at Ist June, 12.535 bales, against 13,245 bales at same time last year. Sisal: Market firm and active. July-September shipment sold at £27 10s; August-October and October-Deeember shipments at £27 12s 6d. New Zealand : Nothing to report. Stocks in London at Ist June, 80 tons, against 24 tons same time last year. SHEEPSKIN, HIDeTAND TALLOW SALES Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington. report under date 12th June:— Tile fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides, tallow, and sundries was held today, a full bench of buyers being in attendance. Sheepskins.—A fair offering was submitted and competition was keen for all grades. Values for dry skins showed a further easing of id to |d per lb. A small offering of salteds was disposed of at unchanged prices. Hides. —A_ good selection was brought forward. Heavy and medium weights remained firm; light ox and cow were a shade firmer; kip and yearling appreciated by |d to id per lb.; calfskins met a good market, super lots advancing by about Jd per lb. Taliow.—Good demand at slightly lower values.
