MOTUEKA
BOROUGH COUNCIL LOAN FOR FOOTPATH CONSTRUCTION (From Our Own Correspondent) A special meeting of the Motueka Borough Council was held for the purpose of passing the necessary resolution in connection with the raising of a loan for footpath construction. It was resolved on the motion of the Mayor and Councillor Hulbert that application be made to the Local Government Loans Board for sanction to raise £ISOO for the purpose of footpath construction, subject to approval of the ratepayers. WRESTLING CLUB FORMED At a meeting held in the Oddfellows’ Hall it was decided that an Amateur Wrestling Club be formed in Motueka. Mr Bateman, who occupied the chair, explained the object of the meeting and after a general discussion it was agreed to elect a committee and executive officers The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr C. R. Trewavas; president, Mr J. A. McGlashen; vicepresidents, Messrs Geoff. Talbot, W. A. Coppins and C. Ferguson; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. Coppins; committee. Messrs Bateman, McEwan, Hume, Mitchell, Hayward, and R. Skilton; instructor, Mr A. C. Hulme; assistant-instructor, Mr Roy Skilton.
