DEATH OF Dll. C. E. DOLLING ADELAIDE, Tins Day. The death has occurred of Dr. C. E. Dolling, aged 49 years, an Australian cricket selector and a prominent member of the medical profession. He suffered from a seizure in his surgery and died about ah hour later. AUSTRALIAN WOOL CLIP MEL BOURNE, lUh June. At a joint conference of the Australian Woolselling Brokers’ Council and the Australian Woolgrowers •J-iurcil, a statement was read which estimated that the Australian wool clip for 1936-37 would be 3.036,000 bales, compared with 3,140,000 for 1934-35. The average bale for the new season’s clip will be 3051 b, compared with 3081 b last year. It is estimated that 18 per cent, of the new clip will consist of crossbred and strong wool breeds, the remainder being merino. It is expected that 2,760,000 bales will be received through the brokers’ stores all over the Commonwealth. The selling season is opening at Sydney on 31st August. There will now* be more than 1,420,000 bales offering before Christmas. DEFENCES OF SWITZERLAND BERNE, 11th June. The Council of State approved a credit of £15.000,000 to strengthen defences. Half will be devoted to anti-aircraft defences for the principal cities and the remainder to fortifications, armaments and aeroplanes.
