NELSON MURDER

POLICE STILL PUZZLED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WHANGAREI, This Day. The police are still puzzled regarding the Nelson murder. They realise they are up against a difficult problem. The wads found near the body show that the gun used was a 12 bore, which is a common type and provides little help. Many, Maoris in the vicinity have an imperfect knowledge of English which makes questioning difficult and unprofitable. A Maori-speaking detective has now arrived. The funeral of the victi. mof the murder took place at Kawakawa yesterday and the esteem in which the late Mr Nelson was held was evidenced by the large gathering of Europeans and Maoris.
