VICTORIAN POLICE
SHOOTING OF SUPERINTENDENT
ROYAL COMMISSION OF INQUIRY (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 28th May, 9.15 a.m.) MELBOURNE, 27th May. It is practically certain that the State Cabinet will appoint a Royal Commission to cquire into the shooting o£ Detective-Superintendent Brophy, and possibly into the administration oL' the Police Department. Ministers are dissatisfied with the conflicting stories attending Detective - Superintendent injuries and the attitude of the Commissioner, Sir Thomas Blarney.
Superintendent John O’Connell Brophy, who began duty as Chief of the Victorian Criminal Investigation Branch a week ago, was shot in the face and right arm in some mysterious manner.
