FACTORIES AMENDMENT BILL

PAYMENTS FOR HOLIDAYS AND SUNDAYS MODIFICATIONS BEING CONSIDERED (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. " The question of payment for holidays and Sundays was referred to the Minister of Labour, the Hon. H. T. Armstrong this morning, when he said that since the Factories Amendment Bill was reported some weeks ago from the Labour Bills Committee many representations had been made to him jior modification of certain provisions, and, he was now considering some amendments which would be introduced in the Legislative Council. Referring to work which was ordinarily done on Sundays, the Minister said that all he was aiming at was the principle of a six day week, and if provisions in the Bill created anomalies in any industries, such for instance, as newspapers, an endeavour would be'made to overcome them. He did not want to place any industry in an unfair position.
