CUSTOMS DUTIES
RETURNS FOR PORT NELSON FIGURES FOR MONTH AND QUARTER Customs duties' collected at Port Nelson in the month of March showed an increase over the figure for March of last year, but the total collection in the quarter ended yesterday showed a substantial decrease on the total for the January-March quarter last year. The returns for March and for the quarter are as follows:Customs 193 G . 1935
31st March 4058 13 0 3134 11 0 The Increased revenue on motor spirits for the quarter is not due to any sudden increase in consumption or withdrawals from bond, but to an adjustment of duty suspense accounts at the end of the. financial year which means that approximately two months’ revenue has been credited to the Public Account during the month of March.
