FOR EMPIRE FLYING-BOATS (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 29th March. Special provision to ensure continuation of wireless communication from aeroplanes stranded after forced landings in remote areas is to be a feature of the big new flying-boats under construction for use by Imperial Airways on Empire routes. The apparatus, which is the result of research by the Marconi Company, includes a small auxiliary petrol engine of a very light construction to drive a generator for the recharging of the battery. Tlie whole outfit, which is a comprehensive wireless unit tor ordinary as well as emergency service, weighs only 235 pounds.
