FOG IN SYDNEY
FERRY STEAMER STRIKES REEF PASSENGERS ALL RESCUED (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 31st March, 1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Heavy fog over the harbour this morning seriously interfered with the ferry services. The Manly ferry. Curlcurl, of 800 tons, struck a reef at Bradley’s Head, which is on the North Shore side of the harbour, about three miles from the city. The vessel which was en route to Manly to pick up passengers for the city, had under a hundred aboard at the time she struck, and all these were taken off without a great deal of difficulty by motor launches. Had the mishap occurred on the return trip, it would have been decidedly more troublesome, as tlie Curlcurl would then have had something approaching 2000 passengers aboard. One end of the vessel is now protruding out of the water facing the land, while the other end lies deeply in tlie water. She appears to have been badly hoied. She Curlcurl is the latest oilburner at present operating in the Manlv service. She was built in Britain in 1928.
