Mrs and Miss Rudman, of Auckland, are guests at Wainai House: Mr G. H. Goodall, Nelson, will be one of a large party of New Zealanders interested in the iron and steel industry to visit Australia at the invitation of the Broken Hill Proprietary Company.

Mr John Fell and Mr R. H. A. Simpson, of Sydney, arrived in Nelson from the West Coast last evening and went on to Picton to-day. Miss E. L. ' Lankester, of London, arrived in Nelson yesterday, and will be a guest at Wainui House for about a week.

Mr and Mrs A. E.-Max, Miss L. Max and Mr K. Max, of- Brightwater, will leave Nelson on Saturday on a holiday trip to England. Miss Kathleen Ogg M.A., a former pupil of the College, was appointed assistant mistress at the Girls’ College by the Council of Governors last evening.

Among the guests at the Commercial Hotel are Mr H. Stuart Jones, Palmerston North; Mr A. Sharpe, Mr G. Livick. and Mr K. J. Woolley, of Wellington. Mr and Mrs W. Glemmy, of London, who are touring New Zealand, arrived in Nelson‘from the West Coast yesterday and continued to Picton today. Mr N. Coxhead, Christchurch manager of Mount Cook Tourist Co. Ltd., accompanied by Mr Harry Wigley, run-ner-up in the New Zealand ski championships last year, are at present visiting Nelson in connection with the organisation of this year’s • Secondary Schools’ ski championships. Dr. Charles North/of Dunedin, president of the New Zealand Baptist Union and Missionary Society, with Mrs North, will leave soon for England, and will also visit the New, Zealand Baptist Missionary Society’s stations in East Bengal, at Brahmanbaria, and Chandpur, where, in 1898, he inaugurated and established medical mission work. The death has occurred at Christchurch of Mr Charles Leonard Hart, a very well-known Christchurch land and estate agent, and a member of a pioneer New Zealand family. Mr Hart, who was head of the firm of J. T. Bell and Company, had been unwell for some time; but his death occurred suddenly, and until a few days ago be liad been able to continue in his business.
