LIVING “UNKNOWN SOLDIER”
PROBLEMS FOR FRENCH EXPERTS (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) PARIS, 30th March. Judicial authorities have sworn in three experts in a last effort to solve the problem of France’s living “unknown soldier,” to whom the name of Mangin was provisionally .* allotted, when apparently having escaped from Germany, he was found wandering incoherently at Lyons in 1917.;': When his photograph was “published in newspapers 200 families claimed him. They have now been reduced to two, one of whom, Madame le Miiy, claims (hat he lived with her as her husband. Mangin's mental condition has not changed since 1917, and doctors are endeavouring to restore his memory by taking him from hospital at Paris to Madame le May’s villa at Vincennes.
