NO TENDER- FOR PURCHASE (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copynghtl SYDNEY, 28th March. No tender was received for the purchase of the stranded Maheno as she lies on the sandbank at I razor Island, on the Queensland coast. The former Union Steam Ship Company’s intercolonial steamer Maheno lias been stranded on a sandy Poach at Frazer Island, 168 miles north of Brisbane, since last July, when she ran ashore while being towed to Japan to he broken up. Several attempts have been made by the Japanese to salvage her.
