LAND REFORM IN SPAIN
HOLDINGS FOR PEASANTS (United Press Association— By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 30th March, 10.30 a.m.) MADRID, 29th March. The Government has issued a decree empowering the Agrarian Reform Institute to declare certain estates within municipal boundaries as social utilities and therefore eligible for expropriation. This will prevent legalising the recent action of land workers at Badajoz who took the law into their own hands and seized estates before Agrarian Reform agents could assess them. The decree is designed primarily to provide holdings for peasants and facilitate re-settlement of families in crowded areas-
