KING AND ANCIENT CEREMONY (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, 25th March. The King will perform the ancient ceremony of distributing gifts to as many deserving old people as there are years of his age when he attends the Maundy Thursday service at Westminster Abbey on 9th April. When King George attended the service in person two years ago, it was the first time for 200 years that a reigning monarch had done so.
