LIKELY TO BE PURCHASED BY THE STATE TO BE RUN BY RAILWAYS DEPARTMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association) WELLINGTON, This Day. One or two of tlio principal motor transport services in New Zealand are likely to be purchased soon by the State so that they may be run by the Railways Department, the Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. Sullivan, said. He had given instructions for negotiations to be opened for the purchase by the Government of one or two major transport lilies which it is considered should be run by the Railways Department because of the interests held by the Department in the particular areas they ser-vie. Mr Sullivan emphasised that the Government intended to pursue a policy of co-ordination but did not intend to enter upon a big purchasing policy.
