SCOUT NOTES

DAY OF DAYS RALLY AT BOTANICAL RESERVE COMING INTERESTING EVENT The Nelson District Boy Scouts' Association will hold a rally in the Botanical Reserve on Saturday, 4th April. The parade will leave the Church Steps at X. 50 p.m., headed by the Regimental Band. The following programme will be carried out: Inspection by the District Commissioner, Dr. W. D. S. Johnston; demonstration of bridge building by the Rangatira Troop; display of physical training by the College Troop; jungle dances, chariot races and relay races by Cubs; ambulance competition, knottying race and relay race by Scouts; concluding with a grand march past.

The committee have done their best to make the rally full of interest to the general public and admission to the rally will be 6d. Tickets can he obtained from all Scouts and Cubs and it is hoped that the public will show their interest in this great movement by attending in full force. 1 Afternoon tea, sweets, soft, drinks, etc,, will be on sale. " All troops and packs are working hard to make this the Scouts’ day of days. , ST. JOSEPH’S TROOP The St. Joseph’s Troop, since the last Christinas camp, lias been going ahead like wildfire. 1 New boys have been enrolled and are undergoing tenderfoot training under the supervision of their respective Patrol leaders. New games for the Patrol competilion have been introduced arid cause/ -much amusement and excitement be-. tween patrols. Week-end camps have been held lately j at the Glen and despite mosquitoes and rough roads, to say nothing of rain, all the patrols so far have enjoyed themselves. Bad weather prevented the Penguins from going last week-end, but it is hoped that the weather will hold out this week.

Special interest is being taken in training for the forthcoming rally to be held on 4th April, and the Scouts are eagerly looking forward to this event. The Troop is earning money, to go towards the building of a new Scout hall to be built in the near future.
