Vavasour, occupying the chair (reports the “Express”). The secretary stated that after the discussion on cue blowfly pest at the last meeting, Mr J. T. Lovell, of North Bank, had advised him of a very effective trap he had in use on his property. It was constructed at a very low cost, and if any of the members

wished to ace. it he would be pleased to bring one down at any time. On the motion of Mr Stare it was decided to thank Mr Lovell for his information, and to request him to leave a- trap in town at his convenience for the members to see. The secretary stated that after a discussion between himself and the president a letter was forwarded to Mr E. P. Meachen, M.P., requesting him to make representations on the

matter, and asking that the injustice of the graduated tax be brought before the (I'ovcrnmeut. Mr Ntace: The tax will strike the South Island man harder than the North islander, as the country is high and is not so suitable for subdivision. Mr Richmond seconded the motion, which was carried. In connection with a proposed visit to the ( awthron Institute bv members of the Union, advice was received that they would be most welcome and that a visit would be thoroughly appreciated. The matter was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange. Accounts amounting to £SO Os 7d were passed for payment.
