I BANK OF NEW ZEALAND
STATE DIRECTORS NO DECISION YET Cabinet has yet to make a decision concerning tiie appointment of two Government nominees on the directorate of the Bank of New Zealand. The terms of two of the present representatives. Sir Harold Beauchamp and Mr Oliver Nicholson, expire soon. The Prime Minister, (the Hon. M. J. Savage) told a “Post” reporter that tiie matter of the impending vacancies was for Cabinet to consider, but Cabinet. had not yet given its consideration. He was unable to say whether the two directors who were to retire shortly would be reappointed. The decision did not rest with him. Tiie question of taking over the Bank of New Zealand by the State did not arise at present, Mr Savasre continued. The State already had four out of si' directors on the board, and it would be time enough to consider taking over the bank if the Government, found it could not do anything else. 'J he Government had a policy to carry out, and the bank would assist to carry out that policy.
