A complete reorganisation of the transport system will be brought about by two Bills which the HonR. Semple will introduce during the Session. The main points, as indicated by Mr Semple to-day, are: — The number of Transport Licensing Authorities to be reduced to four one in each main centre. The Transport Co-ordination Board to disappear, and all appeals to be made direct to the Minister. Better wages and conditions, and shorter hours of work will be ensured for employees in transport services. A saving of between £7OOO and £BO,OO a year will be made in the administration of the Transport Act. Closer co-operation and co-ordination between the transport services will be provided for, and cut-throat competition will be prevented. The Minister alone shall have power, to grant licenses for air transport service's. One organisation will be set lip to control traffic in the whole of New Zealand apart from the Metropolitan areas —and having power to draw up by-laws covering the whole of New Zealand except the Metropolitan areas, and a proper system of control instituted.
