EUGENICS QUESTIONNAIRE
A GROWING TENDENCY The growing tendency in Britain among both men and women to seek medical, examinations before marriage has led the Eugenics Society to prepare a schedule of questions for 11 so use of doctors, "notes a special correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph.” This schedule has been prepared by a committee consisting of Dr. B, LangdoiiDown, Lord llorder, Sir Humphrey Rollcston, Mr B. S. Bramwell, Dr. Stella Churchill, Dr. Maurice Shaw and Dr. C. I’. Blacker. The schedule is in three parts, the first two are lists of questions to lie filled up by the applicant, on his family history and his own medical history. The third is !o be retained for the doctor for his own use during a physical examination, and is for his guidance only. 11 is (lie object of the Eugenics Society not only to prevent dysgenic marriages, but to promote happy marriages. I! may sometimes be necessary for applicants to undergo treatment by psychiatrists. It is pointed out by Dr. Blacker that in the majority of cases the doctor consulted could advise marriage for the applicant. In a smaller number of cases he would advise against marriage. Tn a few cases he would have to refillIhe facts of the case to the applicant and leave the decision to him. When; there was some hereditary difficulty would be necessary for the doctors of both the man and woman to exchange questionnaires bet’ote advice could be given. The advice of a. committee of specialists of the Eugenics Society codd also be sought.
