LONDON WOOL SALES
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cabled advice from their London House, dated 10th inst: — “London Wool Sales: There was a good attendance at- the opening of the sales to-day, competition by home and Continental buyers being fairly active. As compared with the close of the preceding series, prices ruled about 5 per cent, higher except for greasy halfbred which is irregular and unchanged. The opening catalogues were fairly representative. Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated 10th aMrch, 1936: “The auctions opened here to-day with’ a large attendance of Home and Continental buyers. Good competition mainly from the home trade supported by Russia. Compared with the closing rates of last sale the market generally is par to 5 per cent, higher, particularly for Merinos and slipe wools generally. As at present arranged the sales willclose on the 24th March.”
