The felt factory of the Federal Felt-.; ers Proprietary, Ltd., at Footscray, was • destroyed by fire, together with the contents and valuable electrical machinery. The damage is estimated at £50,C00. 1 ’ A number of employees who were: trapped made their escape by leaping from windows on the first floor or rushing through a heavy pall of smoke down the stairway and sliding down drain , pipes. ' Another outbreak occurred a shorttime afterward at- W. Angliss and Com-' pany’s Imperial freezing works in the same locality. Three large buildings, consisting of the grinding mill, manure store and boiling-down works, were’ burned out. The damage amounts to many thousands of pounds.
