MOTUEKA

AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB (Prom Our Own Correspondent) A large number of members were present at the meeting of the Amateur Athletic Club, held in Bowers’ Sample Rooms. Mr Harry Manoy, who occupied the chair, explained that at the annual meeting, which had taken place last month,the attendance had been so small that only certain executive positions had been filled. He expressed pleasure at seeing such a large attendance that evening, and remarged that he hoped young and enthusiastic supporters would be elected to hold office. Mr Manoy asked the young members present to endeavour to encourage others to join the club, drawing attention to the benefits to be derived from an athletic training. Members of the Motueka Club had, he said, assisted in the re-estab-lishment of (he Nelson Athletic Club and lie was glad to see that the Club was doing well.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS Officers elected were as follows: Patron, Mr K. J. Holyoake M.P.; president, Mr Harry Manoy; vice-presi-dents, Messrs E. B. Stohr, G. B. Foster and Dr. A. R. Green; lion, secretary, Mr J. Pockliugton; lion, treasurer, Mr A. J. Tarleton; committee, Messrs T. Simpson, T. Rolling, C. W. Warner, R. Crossman, W. Vaughan, J. Boyce, E. Goodman, N. A. Andrews, P. Craig and Miss L. Delaney. Mr E. B. Stohr was appointed h.uidicapper and Mr T. O. Chittenden official starter; and the following committees were set up:— Programme, Mr E. B. Stclir, the secretary and the treasurer; billeting, Mis Kelliiig and Miss I. Delaney. Accounts amounting to 15s were passed for payment. It was decided that a meeting’ be held on Monday, 16th March. The delegate to the Wellington centre will be Mr D. Leslie, the chaperone Mrs T. Kelliiig and the lion, surveyor, Mr F. A. C. Staig. The chairman stated that it was expected that Wellington would send a strong team to Motueka for the Easter Monday sports meeting.
